During a recent visit to the new St. Michael Hospice, Eden Leisure Group donated 47 TV sets to Hospice Malta’s New St. Michael Hospice – a new palliative care centre that is being built so that Hospice can continue to cater for the increased demand of its services within the community.
Eden Leisure Chief Operations Officer, Kate De Cesare on making this donation said, “Sustainability is high up on our agenda at Eden Leisure Group, both environmentally and in terms of the community. We are therefore so pleased to be able to support Hospice Malta with their exciting new project. By donating these TVs we are also extending the lifespan of these products and contributing to the development of a circular economy, an ethos we are striving towards.”
Hospice Malta Chief Relations Officer, Andrew Zammit thanked Eden Leisure for their generous donation. During a tour of the new facilities, he explained that Hospice Malta provides free of charge palliative care services across Malta and Gozo to patients suffering life limiting conditions due to serious illness, as well as support to the patients’ families.
The new building, St Michael Hospice, will become the main premises for Hospice Malta and is expected to help further enhance the already established palliative community services. It will also house an In-Patient palliative care unit for a all comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach.
The present-day therapy services will be expanded, and several Out-Patient clinics will also be introduced. St Michael Hospice will also enhance its educational wing which will open many opportunities to exchange expertise with other Hospices across Europe and beyond.
Hospice Malta can offer its crucial support through the help of volunteers and donations. In the last year, it has provided palliative care to approximately 1,300 families whilst providing a supportive environment where both patients and their loved ones can feel safe.
